We are looking forward to our 82nd wonderful year full of excitement as we celebrated our 82nd year of service to the students, staff, and parents of Los Angeles Unified School District.
Our theme this past year was “Life is a Game – Enjoy Every Move You Make.” AEOE is here to encourage and support our fellow office professionals and students. We jumped right in.
AEOE had their 82nd Annual Awards Luncheon, which was a huge success with 170 people in attendance. It was the largest AEOE event in decades and was enjoyed by all. Two new AEOE members, a past member child scholarship recipient who is now a LAUSD teacher librarian, and a member niece joined us in volunteering along with our board members. It was an absolute wonderful day. It is one that I, along with many awardees, their friends, family members, teachers, and principals, and AEOE members, will remember for a long, long time. It was the highlight of our year.
AEOE held our Second Annual Poster Contest for K-5th grades. The theme was “Things I Do that Make Me Successful.” There were nine winners. We received hundreds of awesome posters.
AEOE held our Second Annual Writing Contest for 6th-12th grades. The theme was the same as the poster contest. We received triple the amount of creative writing submissions from our first year. There were nine winners.
AEOE awarded 40 college-bound high school senior student scholarships, 5 adult school students, and 1 member grandchild scholarship.
AEOE was thrilled to honor Tosha Davis as our Classified Supervisor of the Year. Tosha continues to set a good example to all employees. She is the go-to person. AEOE also honored Helen Aposhian for her for 64 years of outstanding service and dedication to the Association of Educational Office Employees – Los Angeles. She has served in many capacities on the Board of Directors for the Association and currently serves as mentor for current board members and members.
This year we will continue our scholarship awards, poster contest, writing contest, administrator/classified supervisor/office professional of the year honorees, and our AEOE member tuition/professional development reimbursement program. Additionally, we have our six yearly board meetings, our annual business and installation luncheon, our awards luncheon, and winter holiday brunch. As the year progress, I am sure we will be adding more projects to help the office professionals, students, parents, and staff of LAUSD.
We invite you to help us with all these great programs. You can help a little or a lot. We welcome your expertise and leadership skills.
Being involved with Association of Educational Office Employees has been a rewarding experience. Working with and being friends with a group of fellow office professionals is something I did not know would enhance my life so much. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from others and to be given the chance to share my experience and knowledge. I am very appreciative of my AEOE family and look forward to adding to that family for many more years.
Warmly,
Rosemary Culleeney-Duff, CEOE
President
